The comprehensive stool test utilises quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) technology and is a super-advanced way of testing your gut bacteria using DNA technology. Instead of the old method, where labs would try to grow bacteria from a stool sample (which can miss a lot of microbes), this test looks directly at the DNA of the microbes in your gut.
What is the purpose of the test?
Tests are designed to identify microbial imbalances, detect pathogens, and assess markers of digestion, absorption, inflammation, and immune function within the gut.

Who should consider taking the test?

How is the test conducted?
The test involves collecting a single stool sample using a kit that will be provide with detailed instruction. I will also send you some information on when is the best time to test during our first consultation.
The sample is then sent to a specialised laboratory, where advanced qPCR technology analyses the DNA of microorganisms present.
How are the results interpreted?
Results are presented in a detailed report outlining the presence and quantities of various microorganisms, as well as markers of gut function and inflammation.
